“Helping people of all ages and abilities play better golf ”

Where my journey began in golf …

I first picked up a golf club at the age of 16, and learnt to play the game alongside my family and friends at Glen Waverley and Wattle Park public courses. Over the years, I developed a strong and likeminded group of friends through club golf at Riversdale Golf Club. As a player, I demonstrated patience and mental strength on the golf course and I was able to use these skills, as well as knowledge in course strategy, to support many budding golfers in Melbourne and across Australia as a caddy. I’ve had the privilege of caddying for Jason Day when he won the Master of the Amateurs in 2006. I also caddied for Andrew Martin and Whitney Hillier at their respective victories at the Australasia Tour School in 2009 and the Riversdale Cup in 2012. These experiences led me to realise that work ethic and commitment are the biggest drivers to achieving goals in life.

What professional golf has taught me as a person …

My journey to becoming a golf professional began in 2013, however my path to passing all the playing and academic requirements in the PGA Traineeship wasn’t smooth sailing. Like many golfers, I learnt to play the game of golf on course. Every part of my game was learnt based on feel and technical coaching wasn’t a huge priority for me before entering the PGA Traineeship. Between 2015 and 2017, I didn’t pass the playing requirements of the traineeship. At the time, my instinct wasn’t to understand the areas of my game I needed to improve – I assumed my golf swing was the problem. In 2019, I passed the PGA Traineeship,  and I can confidently say that in hindsight, what happened to my golf game during the PGA Traineeship is a familiar story for many club golfers, elite amateurs and professional golfers I coach and mentor today.

Achieving consistent scores on a golf course came from more than improving my golf swing. My own personal experience has taught me that in order to overcome a performance rut, it’s critical to understand the areas of weakness in your game. There are also two opponents a player needs to beat during any tournament – the golf course and themselves. Practicing with purpose, tournament preparation and understanding the risks and opportunities of my opponent – the golf course – were my areas of focus for two years and enabled me to pass the PGA Traineeship. They are also the foundational performance golf services I coach in others seeking to reach the next stage of their golf career.

How my passion and knowledge is helping golfers today …

The basis of my performance coaching services for elite amateur and professional golfers is strokes-gained data and course strategy. For those of you on the professional golfer pathway, I can work hand in hand with your technical coach to develop an effective course strategy - your hidden ticket to reaching your full potential on course, more often.

In 2020 and during COVID-19 restrictions, I prepared and ran a course strategy and golf statistics presentation to elite amateur golfers from the VIS / Golf Australia Development Program. This was an incredible experience, and a service I’m pleased to offer to other development groups, squads and individuals across the country.

As a young child, the values of service and helping others in the community were present in our family home. As an All Abilities coach and Advanced in coaching and game development with the PGA of Australia, I endeavour to run private or group lessons for people of all ages and abilities with a focus on fun, practical coaching advice and playing lots of golf on course.

I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to work in the golf industry since 2007. As a member of the PGA of Australia, I feel privileged to be part of a community striving to grow the game of golf and help all Australians enjoy the ‘game for life’.
